BOLIVAR, Mo. - Southwest Baptist held the Lincoln women's basketball team to 15 field goals as the Bearcats beat the Blue Tigers, 67-44, on Thursday evening (Jan. 14).
Hunter Yoakum led Lincoln with 13 points and had one of LU's three blocks on the night. The other two belonged to
Zuri Hill, who scored eight to go with four rebounds, and
Lizzie Nessling, who finished with eight rebounds and four points.
Dorian Briggs, meanwhile, led Lincoln with nine boards and three assists and chipped in two points.
Southwest Baptist (8-7, 3-6 MIAA) out-scored Lincoln (6-10, 2-8 MIAA), 24-12, in the opening quarter en route to a 42-22 lead at halftime. The Bearcats shot .448 from the floor and held a slim 37-35 edge in rebounding. The Blue Tigers forced SBU into 15 turnovers, but gave the ball away 19 times themselves.
Sarah Neptune also scored eight for Lincoln.
Azaria Nave added five points while
Jasmine Guthrie and
Naomi Bryant rounded out the scoring with two points apiece. Guthrie also tallied five rebounds while Bryant finished with two and Neptune grabbed one.
Lincoln remains on the road for its next test, as the Blue Tigers visit Warrensburg, Mo. to play Central Missouri on Saturday (Jan. 16) at 1:30 p.m. CST.
