Frederick Cason

Frederick D. Cason, Sr. enrolled at Lincoln University in 1946 and received his B.S. in Physical Education in 1950. He was a co-captain of the track team that was the champion of the Mid-Western Conference for three consecutive years, breaking four conference records, including the 440, 880, two-mile and mile relays. Cason competed in the 100, 220 and 440 during his time on the LU track team and earned four letters.
 

Cason later obtained his master’s degree in public administration from the University of Missouri in 1970.  Frederick was employed 18 years by the Army Map Service Corp of Engineers in Kansas City, Missouri. After receiving his MPA degree, he was selected for an administrative position with the Federal Aviation Administration covering Missouri, Kansas, Iowa and Nebraska, during which time he also served as a member of the National Transportation Safety Board Accident Investigation Team from 1970 to 1993.


Cason received the “Superior Accomplishment Award” in recognition of his exemplary contribution to the flying public and the Federal Aviation Administration in the aftermath of the crash of United Airlines Flight 232 that happened in Sioux City, IA in 1989.
