The 1971-72 Men's Basketball Team was the first in Lincoln history to win the MIAA regular season championship, as the Blue Tigers went 22-6 overall and 11-1 in conference play. Led by first year head coach Don Corbett, the 1971-72 squad at one point put together a 13-game winning streak as LU was victorious in 17 of its final 18 regular season games. Led by MIAA Player of the Year LaMonte Pruitt and James Hampton, who led the league with 13.0 rebounds per game, the 1971-72 Blue Tigers ended up making the NCAA tournament, with Pruitt earning NCAA Regional All-Tournament honors.
